We are not with the left or the right. We are not with blue or with red. We are with the people.
This means we are with stating facts, correcting misinformation and teaching about our experiences as well as understanding other perspectives. We are eager to continue contributing and creating a dialogue that encourages understanding and problem-solving.
As undocumented immigrants (not illegals) who contribute to the economy and society, we have a responsibility to demand our basic human rights and safety now more than ever. To have to constantly express and defend that in a country we very much consider our own is disheartening. However, we know without a hint of a doubt who and why we do this: 11 million undocumented immigrants and the original dreamers- our parents.
As human beings and taxpayers, we demand transparency when decisions regarding our futures are being made. No one can narrate our story or be our voice like us. We deserve a genuine platform and we welcome productive conversations. We are not invisible and our greatness cannot be undermined which is why companies like Facebook have taken an interest in our struggle because they have noticed our contributions.
We have the right to demand, discuss, and debate because our livelihood, the livelihood of our parents and children are at risk. We will not stand down and will continue to share our struggle, protect our rights, and defend ourselves when being targeted by arrogance, false accusations, and hypocrisy.
We are undocumented, we are immigrants, and we are brave."
